Prosper Health Collective

Constant learning and improvement are highly valued by everyone on the team at Prosper Health Collective. It’s why one of our core values is Better than Yesterday. To be better than yesterday, we strive for excellence, make an impact and get results.

One way we do this is through our Continuing Professional Development program at the practice. This program includes monthly 1:1 supervision, monthly group peer supervision, monthly 1 hour PD presentations and two full day training events every year. This program is provided free to all team members.

2021 was an exceptionally good year for our CPD program and we thought we would share some of the highlights.

One of the highlights of the year are are full day PD’s. Not only do they provide great learning and development opportunities but they also bring the team together and allow us to deepen our relationships and understand one another better.

Our first full day PD was in March and present by Dr Daryl Chow on the topic:

Using Deliberate Practice to Achieve Results in Therapy

This PD introduced the team to the importance of improving our therapeutic practice by being feedback informed. Since this PD we have introduced Feedback Informed Therapy (FIT) as a standard part of what we do at the practice.

Our second PD of the year held in August was facilitated by Alyssa Garrett, Clinical Psychologist, on the topic of:

Nourishing your therapist self from the roots upwards: Applying ACT to therapist self care

This PD allowed us to press pause on our role as helper and carer, instead spending some time focusing on our needs and how we can apply the principles of ACT to help ourselves. It left us with a sense of calm and renewed energy, connection to our values and a plan on how to take good care of ourselves in general and in our clinical work.

This year at our Monday evening events we have been lucky enough to receive external training in a wide range of topics including:

  • Psychopharmacology presented by Dr Yulia Furlong
  • Neuropsychology presented by Dr Marjorie Collins
  • An introduction to Radically Open DBT presented by Dr Sian Jeffery
  • How to be a confident, authentic and thriving therapist by Nadene Van Der Linden
  • Pain management and physiotherapy presented by Reuben Fox

Internally members of our team have also shared their expertise on:

  • EMDR and children
  • Schema therapy
  • Legal and ethical matters
  • Improving Client Retention

Overall we had a fulfilling year of growth and development both and clicnians as well as human beings.

We have plenty of great topics and presenters planned for next year such as working with separated families, working with personality disorders, assessment for ADHD, mandatory reporting laws and gender dysphoria just to name a few.
