Embracing Work-Life Balance: Thrive with Prosper Health Collective

At Prosper Health Collective, we wholeheartedly embrace our core values of Vitality for Life and We See You, We Care. Our approach to client service delivery, known as our ‘split shift’ model, not only prioritizes the well-being of our clients but also empowers our dedicated clinicians to achieve a harmonious work-life balance.

Our ‘split shift’ model has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate the diverse needs of both our clients and our valued team members. Rigid 9am to 5pm work days or working both early and late with time off in the middle of the day do not work for either the client or for clinicians. Instead, we offer a framework that supports your individual lifestyle and well-being while ensuring exceptional client care.

The Benefits for You as a Clinician:

  1. **Lifestyle Enhancement and Well-Being:** Our model allows you to optimize your daily routine and provides the flexibility to seamlessly weave in personal commitments. Not a morning person? Begin your workday later, at 11:30 am. Want to make time for an afternoon workout or an evening stroll by the river? Opt for an early shift and enjoy the freedom to flex your schedule starting by finishing with clients at 1pm. By harmonizing work and personal activities, you can focus on self-care, engage in hobbies, and savor quality moments with loved ones—all while excelling in your professional role.

  1. **Embrace Remote Work:** As a digitally enabled office, Prosper Health Collective allows you to complete administrative tasks from the comfort of your home. With the option for telehealth therapy sessions, you have the flexibility to deliver exceptional client care without being confined to a traditional 9-to-5 routine. This system gives you the freedom to manage your tasks when it suits you best. Whether you prefer tackling administrative duties once the kids are asleep or during your evening hours, the power to decide is in your hands.

  1. **Efficiency Amplified:** Our model encourages efficient time management through strategic time blocking. By dedicating specific time slots for client interactions and administrative tasks, you’ll find yourself accomplishing tasks more swiftly and effortlessly. With enhanced time management skills, you’ll have the luxury of more free time to indulge in activities that bring you joy and relaxation.

  1. **Align with Your Energy:** When work seamlessly integrates with your personal responsibilities, you gain the advantage of tailoring your schedule to your natural energy rhythms. This enables you to tackle tasks with heightened focus and efficiency, allowing you to achieve more while conserving valuable energy.

  1. **Foster Connections:** Our model means that everyone is free from clients between 1pm and 1.30pm each day. This means there is a shared lunch time for the team to embrace. Our shared lunchtime builds our culture, strengthening teamwork and reducing the isolation often associated with clinical practice. By connecting with your colleagues during breaks, you’ll forge meaningful relationships that extend beyond the confines of your professional role.
Separate from the team connections, the flexibility of the model also means you are likely to have more time and availability to enhance your personal relationships. Win-Win.

What the team has to say:

We don’t just want you to take our word for it so we asked the team their thoughts on work-life balance at Prosper:

The split shift model is fantastic. It gives so much time for flexible arrangements, doing admin from home, having availability to do life, admin, even catching up with family and friends before or after work. Things you just can’t do on full days, especially when you’re starting before things open and finishing after they close. There’s just so much more flexibility. It’s a great arrangement – Rachael Beckley, Clinical Psychologist

The split shift model allows me to do life admin things like go to doctor’s appointments…It allows me flexibility. It also allows me to see a range of different clients across different days that maybe I wouldn’t get to see if I only worked one full day. During the winter, being able to have time outside of work during daylight hours is especially helpful. Getting that time in the morning or in the afternoon to be able to go outside and to do things or having flexibility to do admin from home if you need is beneficial. The model also helps with the mental fatigue. You only see five or six clients and you’re done for the day. Being able to have the morning to do things for yourself and then coming into work, or seeing five or six clients and then being able to go home is also a benefit.  – Caitlin Stark, Clinical Psychologist

The things I like most about the split shift model would be the ability to be more present in my child’s life in terms of being able to do the school pickup on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and being able to take him to his kickboxing classes. Having an earlier finish works really well and gives me work life balance.Sophia Wiacek, Clinical Psychologist (Reg)

What I love most about the split shift model is that it gives me the time to exercise every day that I’m working, without either arriving home super late or needing to wake up super early – Jason Leong, Clinical Psychologist

How does it work:

Monday to Thursday Clinicians will either work the morning or afternoon shift. A balance of each is ideal and we do expect that clincians will offer both options.

Morning Shift: See clients 8am to 1pm – 5 clients maximum; Admin time 1pm to 4pm (or at a time that suits you)

Afternoon Shift: See clients 1.30pm to 7.30pm – 6 clients maximum; Admin time 11.30am to 1.30pm (or at a time that suits you)

We totally understand that no one wants to work late Fridays so they operate 9am to 5pm as usual.
