Not all children flourish socially, emotionally or developmentally. When there is an issue it is important to identify it so appropriate supports and remediation can be implemented.
At Prosper Health Collective we are able to offer assessment for a number of developmental issues that children may be experiencing. This includes Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum (ASD), Learning Disorders (e.g. Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia) and Intellectual Disability.
Cognitive assessments or intelligence tests are used to determine a child’s learning capability by identifying their cognitive strengths and weaknesses. When interpreted in combination with comprehensive background information, parent and teachers interviews, the results of cognitive tests can provide a profile which can assist with the development of individualised intervention and learning plans for children.
The diagnosis of Autism requires a comprehensive assessment process and involves gathering information from a range of sources. The aim is to gather insight into a child’s areas of strength and weakness in particular around social interactions, communication skills along with the presentation of any atypical behaviours or interests.
A comprehensive psychological assessment may be required when a child is suspected of having underlying learning difficulties. Assessments of learning difficulties can be intricate and complex in nature. The aim of an assessment is to unravel what may be preventing a child form learning to their full potential and to identify strengths and weaknesses. An assessment will also make recommendations for future intervention.
