Medicare Mental Health Care Plans
The most common form of referral to our practice for psychology services is the Mental Health Care Plan. This plan is completed by your GP and allows you to an initial 6 individual sessions and 10 group sessions of Psychological treatment with Medicare rebates. Upon completion of the initial 6 individual sessions, and following a successful Review with your GP, you could receive another 4 sessions of individual psychological treatment (i.e. total of 10 sessions per calendar year).
Your GP will determine your eligibility for this plan. Should you wish to discuss this with your GP, please ensure that you book a long consultation.
Although a Medicare rebate can be claimed, there is generally a gap fee involved.
Medicare Chronic Disease Management
GP’s can provide a total of 5 sessions to people managing a chronic illness with a chronic disease management plan to see an allied health professional including psychology, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Your GP will determine your eligibility for this plan. Should you wish to discuss this with your GP, please ensure that you book a long consultation.
Although a Medicare rebate can be claimed, there is generally a gap fee involved.
Private referrals and Private Health Funds
Clients may also present privately, with no referral from a GP or medical professional.
There is no limit to the number of sessions you may have as a private client, however, Medicare rebates are not available.
Please check with your private health fund as cover varies for different treatment services.
