For many of us parents, teachers, and caregivers play is something we know is “good” for children… but often struggle to fully understand. Is it a break? A reward? Just something fun?

What if play is much more than that?

On Saturday 25th of July 2026, two of the world’s most respected leaders in play, child development, and neuroscience – Dr Anita Bundy and Dr Shelly Lane are coming to Perth for a rare, transformative workshop designed to completely reframe how we understand children, learning, behaviour, and wellbeing. Whether you’re guiding a classroom or raising kids at home, this experience will give you tools you can use immediately.

WHY REFRAME PLAY?

Play is not “just fun.” It is how children learn, connect, communicate, and build resilience.

In this highly interactive workshop, you will explore what play really is, not as free time or entertainment, but as a scientifically supported foundation for healthy brain development, emotional regulation, social skills, and confidence.

You’ll walk away with a new lens: a child’s resistance, disengagement, or “behaviour” may not be misbehaviour at all, but a play mismatch. And once you know how to spot it, everything changes.

WHAT YOU’LL DISCOVER

  1. Play as a Relationship and Learning Superpower
Learn how play strengthens connection at home and engagement in the classroom. Discover how small moments of playfulness can transform cooperation, attention, and communication.
  2. The Neuroscience Behind Play
Explore the brain science that shows why play is essential not optional it helps with attention, confidence, wellbeing, and resilience. Understand what happens in a child’s nervous system when they are playful, regulated, or stressed.
  3. How to Support Every Child (Including Neurodivergent Learners)
Not all children play in the same way, and that’s okay. Learn how to recognise different play styles, understand how sensory needs shape engagement, and create inclusive experiences where all children can thrive.
  4. Practical Strategies You Can Use Immediately
This workshop is hands-on and grounded in real-life examples. Learn everyday strategies to create calmer homes, strengthen teacher–student relationships, support transitions, increase motivation, and build resilience through play.
