Ms Laura Smith-Wright

Senior Clinical Psychologist

My name is Laura and I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist.
Taking the leap to start therapy can feel like an extremely daunting process. As a therapist it is my aim to create a space where my clients feel safe, respected and heard while navigating this process. I am deeply passionate about helping others learn to thrive emotionally.

My approach to therapy is very client centre, working collaboratively and compassionately with an individual throughout the therapeutic process. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honours) at the University of Canberra in 2011 and went on to complete a Master of Clinical Psychology in 2013. I have been working as a clinical psychologist for over a decade.

I have worked in both the public sector, specifically with military personnel, and private practice settings with general
populations. I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients ranging from children, teenagers, adults and parents. I have experience in areas such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, developmental/childhood trauma, work burnout, bullying, ADHD, relationship difficulties
and parenting concerns. I also offer child and adult assessments.

My psychological training includes frameworks such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Animal-Assisted
Therapy.

Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy spending time with my family and two dogs, painting and drawing, going to the beach and playing a variety of sports.

Take the first step towards thriving emotionally and schedule your therapy session today to start living a more balanced, fulfilling life.
