“To effectively communicate, we must realise that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.” – Tony Robbins. This quote perfectly reflects the individualised, empathetic, and self-aware approach I take in my practice as a Speech and Language Pathologist.
From a young age, I was fascinated by the power of communication and its ability to connect people and make their mark on the world in unique ways. This curiosity led me to pursue a degree in Speech and Language Pathology with honours from Curtin University, Perth, where I sought to understand the intricacies of communication connections. My journey into this field was driven by a deep passion for supporting individuals in finding their own voice and communication style, helping them unlock their full potential through tailored strategies that foster not only their ability to express themselves but also their advocacy, confidence, and autonomy.
I have experience working with individuals with a range of different diagnoses across the private, aged care, and NDIS sectors. My areas of interest include multi-modal communication (such as Key Word Sign, communication devices, and communication boards), supporting non-speaking children, early intervention, gestalt language processors, speech sounds, and supporting spoken language and written language/narrative. Everyone brings unique experiences, goals, and needs, and I am dedicated to creating personalised strategies and intervention plans to help my clients strive toward achieving their goals.
My approach to therapy is holistic and client-centred as well as accepting of all forms of communication. I strive to create a supportive and engaging environment where clients feel heard and valued by respecting individual differences and focusing on each person’s unique strengths. In my practice, I constantly think outside the box, combining evidence-based techniques with creative, neuro-affirming interactive methods. I always consider emotional, sensory, and learning needs, and I aim to create a session environment that is both motivating and enjoyable for my clients. This ensures a holistic, meaningful, and multi-sensory approach to therapy. My goal is to empower my clients to understand the communication connection and have access to multiple modes of communication that enable them to interact effectively and confidently in various social settings.
Outside of work, you can usually find me discovering and eating at new restaurants, pretending to be a food critic, or spending time with my partner, friends, and family. I also enjoy spending ample time with my cats, listening to audiobooks, drinking coffee, and going to Pilates.
If you feel that I can be of assistance to you or your family, please contact me at the practice on 6381 0071.
